Wanda Chaffain - the pie lady

In 2011, Wanda began baking from their family home in Waverly, Kansas, and selling her baked goods. It started as a supplement for her full-time job.

When Wanda first started, the job market was not the same as it is today. Jobs were a little harder to come by and she wanted to make a little extra spending money. Wanda began going to local Farmer’s Markets, setting up in small towns, taking private orders, craft shows and eventually opening a small diner. The diner allowed her to have a small store front for her baked goods. Two years later, she quit that job and focused on her baking.

Wanda knew that if she wanted t sell more, she needed to change her business plan and that is where the idea of wholesale came into play.

In October 2016, the first pies went out as wholesale pies to Pome on the Range in Williamsburg, Kansas. With her husband Chad's support, she has been able to expand and grow her pie business to the current location in New Strawn.
